Shape alternatives for loan officers: Leaf360 compared honestly
Shape is a mortgage CRM with a built-in dialer and marketing automation. Leaf360 is an AI Operating System for mortgage: it includes a CRM, but also communication intelligence, wholesale infrastructure, and Lia, an agentic AI that builds workflows from plain language. Choose Shape if you want a proven dialer-first CRM and are happy running your other tools alongside it. Choose Leaf360 if you want one system to replace the stack.
CRM with dialer and marketing automation
Small and mid-size sales teams that run on lead routing and outbound calling.
Published per seat, with add-ons
Shape Software, privately held, sells the same platform across several verticals with a mortgage edition.
Choose Shape if
- You run a high-volume outbound calling operation and want a mature built-in power dialer as the center of your day.
- Your team is already trained on Shape and your current pain is discipline, not tooling.
- You want a vendor with many years of mortgage CRM track record and consider newer platforms a risk regardless of capability.
Choose Leaf360 if
- You want one system for pipeline, partners, follow-up, wholesale and calling instead of a stack of tools.
- You want the AI to build and run the work from plain language, not another builder to configure.
- You want to start free today, with published pricing and no implementation project.
What Shape is, and how it works
A sales CRM with a built-in dialer, texting and marketing automation, sold to mortgage, real estate, insurance and other financial services teams.
Shape is a database of contacts with a phone system, a texting layer and a marketing automation engine attached. You bring leads in through forms, purchased sources or imports, set up routing rules so they land with the right rep, and build drip sequences and workflows through its menus.
ShapeAI is the newer layer: it can answer inbound calls, dial out on aged leads, handle text follow-up, and transcribe and score conversations, writing everything back to the same contact record. It is dialer-first by design; the workflow is built around calls and texts going out on a schedule.
Mortgage is one of several editions. The pipeline stages, fields and templates are configured for lending, but the product underneath is the same one sold to insurance agencies and real estate teams.

Built for

What Shape solves, and what it doesn't
Where it is genuinely good
- Speed to lead: routing, round-robin and instant call or text when a lead arrives.
- One phone system and one contact record, so calls, texts and notes stay together.
- Marketing automation and drip sequences that a small team can run without a marketing hire.
- AI that dials, answers and transcribes, which reduces the manual calling load.
Where a mortgage originator runs out of road
- No wholesale lender marketplace; brokers still manage lender approvals in email and spreadsheets.
- Configuration lives in menus and settings screens; there is no agent you can instruct in plain language to build the workflow for you.
- Mortgage is an edition of a multi-vertical product, so mortgage-specific depth, such as loan scenarios against lender guidelines, is not the core.
- Total cost climbs with add-ons: portal seats, Lead Engine, recording, storage and API are priced separately.
What reviewers say about Shape
Summarized from public listings and trade press, September 2026: G2, Capterra, Software Advice, public pricing writeups. Read the originals before you decide; we did.
They praise
- Consolidating CRM, dialer, texting and marketing into one subscription is called cost-effective by small and mid-market teams.
- Lead routing and the dialer are the features reviewers mention most.
They complain about
- Additional charges beyond the base price for API, storage and call recording.
- Cancellation contracts described as expensive, and more than one review reporting continued billing after cancelling.
- Onboarding and support delays: one mortgage reviewer describes two months waiting for help to upload contacts.
Where I stand on Shape
Not a review site's verdict. Mine. I built Leaf360 because I ran a mortgage business on the tools on this page.
Christian Mourra
Founder, Leaf360. Still originating.
Shape is a good dialer-first CRM. If your business is buying leads and calling them fast, it does that job, and I would not talk you out of it.
Where I disagree is the model. Shape gives you a better set of tools and leaves you to configure them. Leaf360 gives you Lia, and she does the configuring. You say "follow up with every pre-approval that went quiet in the last 30 days" and the workflow exists. On top of that, a broker needs the wholesale side, and a Shape seat has nothing for it.
The other difference is the bill. Our pricing is on the site, the Free plan needs no card, and there is no setup fee and nothing to cancel by phone. Shape's reviewers spend a lot of words on billing. Ours should never have to.
Why I built an operating system instead of a better CRM
I ran my mortgage business across seven tools and a spreadsheet. Every CRM I tried was a database that waited for me to do the work: enter the lead, remember the follow-up, notice the file changed in the LOS, keep the compliance rules in my head. The tools got better every year and my Sunday nights did not.
So here is what I believe, and what every comparison on this site is judged against.

The CRM era is over.
A CRM is a place to put people. It does not call them, write to them, or know when the loan moved. Total Expert now says the same thing to banks. We say it to the loan officer.
The system should do the work.
You tell Lia what you need in plain language. She builds the campaign, the workflow, the partner note, and waits for your approval where it matters. Agentic, not automated.
One system beats seven.
Pipeline, partners, follow-up, calling, compliance and wholesale in one place, so nothing falls between tools.
Open beats walled.
Leaf360 connects to 21 systems, and Lia works inside Claude and ChatGPT through our MCP server. We do not have an LOS to protect.
You should not need a sales call to find out.
Free plan, no card, published pricing, no setup fee. If a competitor is the better choice for you, the page says so.
